Pain-Free Dentistry

What do we do to offer you pain free dentistry?
Yokine Dental Centre is proud to offer "sleep dentistry" on our premises using our dentists and an anaesthetist.Sleep dentistry (also called sedation dentistry, conscious sedation or twilight sedation) is the most advanced form of dental sedation. It uses a combination of sedative and pain relieving drugs given intravenously to create a dream-like state of deep, calm relaxation for the entire duration of your dental procedure.
When you wake up you will usually have no memory of the noises, smells, needles or drilling, and feel like no time has passed at all! You will just feel like you've had a very deep and satisfying sleep. No pain, no discomfort and no fear! You will go home with a heightened sense of well-being and the satisfaction of having attended to your dental health.
Many patients take advantage of sleep dentistry to complete treatments and procedures that might normally take multiple visits, in one comfortable appointment.
A specially qualified dental sedationist stays by your side for the entire procedure to ensure your safety and comfort, and you are afforded state of the art safety and monitoring equipment.
Whether you have had a bad experience or dread going to the dentist for any reason, have difficulty keeping your mouth open, need lengthy or extensive treatment, require an invasive procedure such as wisdom tooth removal or surgical extraction, or you are just short of time, sleep dentistry is your solution.
What is the cost
Cost will depend on the duration of the appointment. Please feel free to ask Lara at the practice about the fees for the IV sedation. The advantage over the general anaesthetic is that it does not require you to be booked into a hospital, allowing the procedure to be done in the convenience of your dental practice and saving you considerable time and money. It is also safer, as your body maintains full control of its own breathing. We also offer the following aids to help with a pain-free dental experience.
- Happy Gas or Laughing Gas - this aid really helps to aid with anxiety and pain relief.
- Pentrox - also known as the whistle - this is managed by the patient and it is once again to aid pain and anxiety.
- Local anaesthetic - we will make sure that you are completely numb before we start any dental treatment which requires you to be numb. We will also add more anaesthetic to the area if it is required throughout the treatment.
- IV sedation - please read our comprehensive notes on IV sedation. It is conducted at the Yokine Dental Centre and it is a wonderful option available to enable you to have your dental treatment done under twilight sedation.
- General Anaesthetic - this normally takes place at Westminster day clinic. You still have your dentist and his assistant at the treatment but you are under complete sedation
Please ask any of our staff members to go through all of the different options, should you require further details.
